Community Service

Giving back to the community has always been a priority for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. Each year we make it a point to donate our time and resources to help those in need.

In 2010, we created the Movers for Moms® program, which involved assembling and delivering 25 Mother’s Day gift baskets for women escaping abuse at the CAWC’s Greenhouse Shelter in Chicago; the following year we collected over 1000 personal items for the program. We also performed a series of deliveries for the Self-Help Closet and Pantry of Des Plaines and committed to the Move for Hunger program – an organization of moving industry leaders who collect food donations from their customers and deliver the donations to local pantries.

We also donated three days of moving services to assist to the Salvation Army with gift pick-up for the organization’s Angel Tree program, saving them the cost of having to rent a truck for all pick-ups as they have done in the past.

In January 2011, the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce recognized TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Chicago for our charitable works with the Community Enhancement Award, which we were proud and honored to receive.

Giving Back to the Chicago and North Shore Communities

A Corporate Commitment to Service
Mary Ellen Sheets, founder of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, has spent most of her life volunteering. So when she started TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, it made sense to include community service in the foundation of the business.

In her first year, Sheets profited only $1,000. She decided that even though she could use the money, she would donate $100 to 10 different local charities. She’s continued donating to the same 10 charities every year she’s been in business.

Sheets’ fervent commitment to helping the community is shared by her children. The family’s dedication has been an inspiration to everyone in the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system. In fact, 10 cents of every move is donated to the American Cancer Society.

Upcoming Events

As part of the Move for Hunger program, we’re committed to collecting a minimum of 300 lbs. of non-perishable food for the Des Plaines Self-Help Closet and Pantry in 2013.

Here’s how you can help! As you’re preparing for your move and come across non-perishable items you can donate, simply set them aside. On move day, we will load them up and bring them to our office, where they will be stored until our monthly delivery to the pantry.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Chicago/North Shore works with many partners to continue giving back to our community.
