Moving Rates

Many people who move for the first time wonder exactly how a mover charges for their services. Here's an overview of the moving rates at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Chicago.

Local Moves

Local services are provided in accordance with our Illinois Tariff of Rates and Charges on file with the Illinois Commerce Commission and viewable in our office. All household goods movers in Illinois must be licensed by the Illinois Commerce Commission. A local move is any move taking place within 35 air miles (within the State of Illinois) or within the seven Illinois collar-counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.

• Local services such as moving, unpacking and internal moving are performed by the hour. We only have a one-hour minimum, after which we charge in 15-minute increments.
• The time begins when our movers leave our office and ends when they return to the office. Movers are equipped with GPS for the fastest routes. You will not be charged for time if we get lost, or if there is an error on our part.
• There are no extra charges for fuel, mileage or use of the truck.
• There are no extra charges for moving pads, stretch-wrap or equipment.
• We offer our lowest rates Monday through Friday, and we charge a premium rate on Sunday.
• Most moves can be scheduled over the phone or via e-mail, and our skilled Customer Service Representatives can determine how long your move will take based on the information you provide.
• Our rates include trained movers, a modern and efficient 26’ moving truck with air-ride suspension, moving pads and equipment, and basic tools for minor disassembly and reassembly.

Many moving companies have lower hourly rates, but they charge extra fees for standard moving supplies and services. When shopping other companies, make sure you’re comparing apples-to-apples. Ask what additional costs you could incur on move day and make sure the company is licensed and insured. You’ll often find that once these items are factored in, our prices will be extremely competitive and of superior value.

Packing

Packing services are provided in accordance with our Illinois Tariff of Rates and Charges. Services are charged per container (i.e. box) and include the cost of materials and labor. All items that we pack are guaranteed by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Chicago. We can pack one room or an entire home or office. Discuss your packing needs with one of our Customer Service Representatives and we will provide you with an estimated cost of services.
